The Mix: Top 10 Songs in Rock Right Now

By Michael Bachmann ’17

1. “Here’s to the Heartache” – Nothing More (Nothing More)

Ever since discovering Nothing More, there has been one song that’s constantly been on repeat. “Here’s to the Heartache” tops the charts in this week’s top 10. To me, Nothing More is an underated band that does not get the attention they deserve. Their hit single off their self-titled album is an exclamation point of profound sound and musicianship. Check it out, and while you’re at it, take a listen to the album in its entirety.

2. “The Feast and the Famine” – Foo Fighters (Sonic Highways)

The Foo Fighters come in a close second with “The Feast and the Famine”. This driving force is a fuel that ignites true rock n roll. Most of the song is an up tempo journey with simple musicality. However, the band’s demonstration really hit it off and made it more than just a simple rock song: It’s a work of art.

3. “World on Fire” – Slash, Myles Kennedy, the Conspirators (World on Fire)

Slash and Myles Kennedy, possibly two of the greatest rock n roll Gods in the business, accentuate this genre with a little more flash than usual on “World on Fire”. With Slash’s intricate guitar riffs and Kennedy’s distinctive pipes, it is a complete rock n roll masterpiece that will not disappoint.
