Performing on-screen is one thing, but performing live is a whole different story and for Broadway, that is the best of the best. Some of Hollywood’s most talented actors are taking a break from their on-screen lives to perform live on Broadway. With over 30 shows currently playing, an array of genres performing and an endless list of roles, Broadway has it all for those aspiring to perform on stage.
In the past, the most talented of Hollywood’s elite have taken a break from their on-screen work to take the Broadway stage, and today’s talent is no exception. Whether it is their Broadway debut or they have been in more shows than they can count, there are so many great talents on Broadway right now, making the shows a ‘must-see’ before their contracts are up.
Joining the cast of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” as Satine is Meg Donnelly. Fans may recognize the bubbly, blonde star from her role as Addison Wells in Disney’s “Zombies.” The 25-year-old actress made her Broadway debut on Nov. 11 and will perform in this lead role through March 1. Upon her arrival was the departure of television host, actor, singer and game show host Wayne Brady. Brady recently left the show on Nov. 9, after playing the master of ceremonies, Harold Zidler.
Taking his on-screen character to the stage is Tom Felton, reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” Felton took the stage for the first time in 14 years as Malfoy on Nov. 11. His run is expected to go through May 2026. According to Playbill, Felton’s stage presence has more than doubled the price of tickets since his debut. Felton’s performance has brought in thousands of fans and also some of his past cast members of the Harry Potter series to support him.
For a limited time, three of Hollywood’s biggest stars will take the stage in Yasmina Reza’s comedy titled “Art.” Bobby Cannavale, James Corden and Neil Patrick Harris have made it big in comedy and are bringing their hilarity to Broadway. The comedic play follows three lifelong friends who face major complications in their friendship after one of their friends buys an extremely expensive piece of art. The only catch is that this piece of art is just one big white canvas. The show will run through December 21, and from the reviews, it is not one to miss.
“30 Rock” star Jane Krakowski is no stranger to the Broadway stage. She took on her new role of Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola’s Tony-winning “Oh, Mary!”. The comedy follows the fictional life of Abraham Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, and the weeks of her life leading up to his assassination. The comedic play performed in one act is packed with dark humor, singing and an uncovering of the made-up life she aspired to live. Jane Krakowski will take on the role of Mary through January 4.
Finally, there is nothing like a classic, and “Chess” the musical sure is one. Known for her role as Rachel Berry in “Glee,” Lea Michele is no stranger to the stage and has put on show-stopping performances since the revival’s opening night on November 16. She is playing Florence Vassy, assistant to American chess grandmaster Freddie Trumper. Playing Freddie Trumper, a legend in the Broadway community is Aaron Tveit, who’s known for his on-screen roles in “Graceland” and “Gossip Girl”. The two can be seen performing this timeless show on stage until May 3.
All in all, it’s sure to be a great few months on Broadway with all of this talent. With comedies, plays, musicals and all of the other productions that Broadway has to offer, there’s sure to be something for everyone. From the big screen to the stage, these actors are taking their talents to the next level and fans are loving it.
