Coachella 2024 brought a variety of performances and fashion statements that captivated fans everywhere.

Coachella 2024 electrified Indio, C.A., with whirlwinds of energy that could be felt from the front rows of the festival to the furthest corners of the internet. Hundreds of pop culture fans crowded the sun dried festival, eager to hear headlining icons Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, Ice Spice and Sabrina Carpenter. The rest of the world kicked back, soaking up the chaos through their screens.

For the first time in ten years, the girl rock band No Doubt performed on April 13 and brought out current star Olivia Rodrigo as a surprise guest. Rodrigo reported that being on stage with No Doubt was the coolest honor.

Doja Cat made history by becoming the first black female rapper to headline both Sunday shows in the festival’s history. She sang hits like “Paint The Town Red” and “Tia Tamera,” making fashion statements by wearing long, flowy platinum hair one performance, a hazmat suit the next and lastly, a furry bikini.

Reneé Rapp’s Coachella debut was impossibly iconic with Kesha coming onstage and performing the 2010 hit, “Tik Tok.” Taylor Swift and Travic Kelce were also seen at the festival cuddling up in the crowds, letting loose in their crazed lives. They were spotted with Sabrina Carpenter and her boyfriend, Barry Keoghan, during Ice Spice’s performance.

While these sightings and performances made crowds go wild, there were still some downsides on the stage. Tyla reported that she couldn’t perform because of an unspecified injury and Kid Cudi broke his foot mid-performance.

Onto the fashion department…

Coachella has become synonymous with boho fashion and desert dressing, but this year it seemed like sheer looks were the hot topic. Artful spins to classic summertime fits were shown off by celebs like Charli D’Amelio and Victoria Monét.

Charli D’Amelio wore a black and white outfit day one, pairing a bra top with black sheer pants. Her other look was a completely sheer, beige dress with butterfly prints, pairing it with black combat boots. Victoria Monét, or should we say Space Cowgirl, was in a white, see-through mini-dress with a metallic skirt, which she paired with matching white cowboy boots.

Sabrina Carpenter wore a custom baby blue dress made by Frolov with a vintage Alpinestars leather jacket from Tanaka Vintage while Hailey Beiber put a vintage twist to street wear with a Yankees Varsity jacket, baggy jeans and a leopard print bandana.

Barbie pink isn’t going anywhere on Ice Spice’s watch, as she pulled off a lacy bodysuit from I Am Gia and wore a waist-length orange wig. She also wore a very similar version of the bodysuit but in black, still rocking it with the wig.

Lana Del Rey fashioned two looks made by Dolce & Gabbana after blowing everyone away with her creative motorcycle entrance. Her first look was a powder blue flare dress and sparkly boots while her second was a custom blue gown embroidered with Swarovski crystal chains.

While Coachella did match some of the western feels this year, it also had some chaotic clashes of eras with odd takes of the mesh trend and cowboy boots thrown together in puzzling mixes. Over the top jumbled prints and colors created a visual overload, which reflect on how this year’s festival blended a confusion mix of musical genres.

Barry Keoghan and Gwen Stefani were two celebs who surprisingly didn’t impress. Keoghan’s stayed on the safe side of fashion while adorning a white tank and Burberry-print bandana with matching shorts. It’s Coachella, Barry, take a risk! Stefani followed the mesh trend, but her outfit turned out to be a plaid fishnet, cut out mess. The vision was absolutely there but the execution… not so much.

For such an anxiously awaited event, Coachella gets a B- for this year. Every performance and outfit took the festival by storm, either leaving fans in an uproar of excitement or leaving them with no other choice but to unfollow pop icons.
