Dressing It Up

By Mimi Ali

Starting a new day with a brand new outfit that makes you feel yourself has to be the best feeling ever. Whether it’s wearing a new fancy fit you wouldn’t usually wear or styling up your outfit with some type of jewelry, dressing up will always make you feel good about themselves.

Don’t get me wrong I could stay in my pajamas for a whole week, but once I have the motivation to get up and change it up, I will take it any second of the day. In my opinion, it’s confidence over comfy. Dressing up is a boost. On the weekdays I’m in sweats and a sweatshirt all day for school, and after school I honestly stay in the same thing. Weekdays make me feel bummy, so once the weekend hits, it’s time to pop out!! It’s a form of self care to me. You can do whatever you want and the outfit you wear will show the true baddie in you.

The thing I love about dressing up is that everyone has their own fashion sense, you can try new things and feel like you are on top of the world with the immaculate outfit you just created. You never know who you are going to run into either. If I run into my soulmate one day I want them to see me in my coolest fit and be like “wow she’s cool i want to marry her”.

Dressing up honestly just makes me happy because I can love myself and feel like YUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPP. Yes, I would obviously prefer to be comfy, but I also love feeling pretty and spending money and having a lovely, happy shopping addiction 🙂

Keeping it Casual

By Charley Rich

It’s said that Albert Einstein’s closet was filled with the same outfit to save brain power. While this is definitely an extreme, if a world-renowned physicist believes the daily task of picking out an outfit is too taxing on the brain, I’m certainly not one to question his logic. It’s up to personal preference, but in my opinion, dressing casually is more comfortable and easier than getting dressed up.

Waking up at the crack of dawn is definitely miserable but a comfy pair of sweatpants and a hoodie make it just a bit more bearable, especially in the winter months. I cannot imagine having to worry about fixing my jeans or something throughout the day on top of all my classwork and the overall stress of being in school. Although, there is definitely a time and place for all different types of clothes, I am the type of person to wear sweats regardless of the occasion. It’s not uncommon for me to show up somewhere underdressed, and despite the dirty looks I get from strangers and friends alike, they will usually concede later they wished to be as comfortable as me.

Making the choice of whether to be chill or chic largely depends on the situation and preference. Whether you’re doing class via zoom, in person or you’re even just out in public, it’s unlikely anyone will question your choice of attire so just do whatever makes you feel good, whether that be a look suitable for Paris Fashion Week or your actual pajamas.
