Short preseason blamed for NFL injury pileup in Week 6

At the end of Week 6 of NFL play, dozens of injury reports are piling up.

As the NFL starts back up, many injuries have already threatened to end players’ seasons. As Week 6 comes to a close, there are players getting hurt now more than ever. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the teams’ preseason was not as long as it normally would be, which some fans and experts say led to increased injuries. More than 25 players were injured from over 10 teams. The list includes:

  • Baltimore Ravens 
    • Mark Ingram, running back  – ankle injury 
    • Anthony Averett, cornerback – shoulder injury
  • Green Bay Packers 
    • David Bakhtiari, left tackle – chest injury 
    • Darnell Savage, safety – quad injury.
  • Miami Dolphins 
    • DeVante Parker, wide receiver – groin injury
    • Raekwon Davis, defensive tackle – shoulder injury 
    • Andrew Van Ginkel, linebacker – concussion 
    • Kamu Grugier-Hill, linebacker – broken finger
  • Pittsburgh Steelers 
    • Devin Bush, linebacker – torn ACL 
  • Minnesota Vikings
    • Mike Hughes, cornerback – neck injury
  • Washington offensive 
    • Saahdiq Charles, lineman – knee injury 
    • Antonio Gandy-Golden, wide receiver – hamstring injury
  • Jacksonville Jaguars 
    • A.J. Cann, guard – shoulder injury
    • Tyler Eifert, tight end – neck injury
  • New England Patriots 
    • Jermaine Eluemunor, guard – ankle injury 
    • Adam Butler, defensive lineman – elbow injury
  • Denver Broncos 
    • Josh Watson, linebacker – hamstring
    • Dalton Risner, guard – shoulder
    • Diontae Spencer, wide receiver – shoulder
  • New York Giants 
    • C.J. Board, wide receiver – concussion and neck strain 
    • Darnay Holmes, cornerback – neck injury
  • Philadelphia Eagles 
    • Miles Sanders, running back  – knee injury
    • Zach Ertz, tight end – ankle
    • Malik Jackson, defensive lineman – quad
    • K’Von Wallace, safety – shoulder
    • Jack Driscoll, offensive lineman – ankle injury
  • Carolina Panthers 
    • Juston Burris, safety – rib injury
  • San Francisco 49ers
    • Raheem Mostert, running back – ankle injury
