Auditorium renovations are finally revealed

The long-awaited $975,000 auditorium renovations were finally revealed at a ceremony held by Superintendent Damion Macioci and other administrators.

“I am really excited about the opening of our new, state-of-the-art facility,” Macioci said. “The high school auditorium is one of the largest spaces in our building and is often a place where significant memories are made, either through ceremonies and awards programs to recognize student and staff achievement or to showcase the talents of our performing arts students.”

According to a Jan 12 article from Tap Into West Essex, many upgrades were made to the auditorium, making the finished product modern and technologically efficient. Lighting renovations included stage, house and aisle lights and emergency lighting system integration. Sound upgrades ranged from house, stage, clear communication system, audio assisted devices, and upgraded microphones. The rigging system was also upgraded, as well as the redesigned sound and lighting booth. The renovated stairs and expanded front allow for better access and connectivity.

Most notably the new auditorium features updated ceilings, walls, floor, carpeting, seating and entry access. In addition, the stage walls, floor and paint were redone and the network connectivity and security were updated.

This hefty project was funded completely by the district’s capital reserve fund. After the near million-dollar project’s completion, $8 million is left in the account.

The auditorium holds most of West Essex’s large events, from Masquers productions and musical performances to dance shows and Mr. West Essex.
