Tragedy strikes Camden vs. Pleasantville state playoff game

A 10-year-old boy was killed and another teen was injured in a shooting Nov. 15 at a state football playoff game in Pleasantville.

Camden High School was playing Pleasantville in a state playoff game on Nov. 15 and in the third quarter, six men opened fire, according to reporting from the Philadelphia Inquirer. Micah Tennant, 10, was shot in the neck, and another unidentified 15-year-old was also wounded. Tennant was pronounced dead on Nov. 20. Six different men were arrested and charged with the crime.

Many people at the game frantically called 911 after they heard shots coming from the stands. The game ended immediately following the shots. In light of the tragedy, The Philadelphia Eagles held a special event by allowing the teams to play in their stadium. Both high schools were able to meet and talk with the players and coaches from the Eagles.

Camden ended up beating Pleasantville in a bittersweet victory on Nov. 20 at Lincoln Financial Center.
