Travis Scott isn’t just Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy, and according to West Essex, he is a lyrical genius. The long-awaited Astroworld dropped on August 3, 2018, leaving many people in love with the new album.

The album was hyped up by many different artists before releasing, and here is what West Essex had to say about it. 88 percent of students have heard of Astroworld, and out of those 88 percent, 34 percent love it and 46 percent think it is a good album.

Compared to his older songs and albums many people like Astroworld much better than previous albums. Sophomore, Phil Seaver, thinks that the album is the best album that he has dropped.

“It is definitely a step up, it is a lot different. Musically, the beats change mid-song, which I think is cool, because it is supposed to like represent a roller coaster, like the ups and downs and I think that is like a cool twist, but yeah it is definitely different,” Seaver said.

Along with changing up beats, he changed up titles and the way he features artists. Many artists give features in the titles of their songs to give credit to the other artists in the song. Travis has no features on the titles, so not everybody knows who is in what songs.

West Essex had very mixed opinions on this matter, and freshman, Alexandra Shizas, disagrees with Travis.

“No, because they need credit, too,” Shizas said.

There are many favorite songs on the album, and for many different reasons. People seem to love the way that the beats change, and the people who are featured. Senior, Ant Melillo, had a difficult time picking his favorite song.

“This is hard, because they’re all good, but CAN’T SAY is my favorite song, because I like the beat,” Melillo said.
