New locker room still awaiting renovations

The locker room renovation that was set to be completed in Fall 2018 has been running behind schedule, leaving fall athletes without the new lockers to use. The locker rooms located in the middle school used by field hockey, football, girls lacrosse and softball began renovation in Spring of 2018. They were long overdue for a revamp and finally the project got approved.

“They’re 99 percent complete — we’re just waiting on a punch list to be complete,” athletic director Anthony Minella said. “Some items the construction company were supposed to supply and they’re not here yet.”

The construction company, who supplied the lockers, were delayed in bringing them, holding back the construction of the lockers and the room.

The brand new, collegiate-inspired locker rooms are planned to be done for the spring sports teams to use. No winter sports use them, making the girls lacrosse and softball teams the first two teams to have the privilege of using them.

“I was waiting all summer to see what they would look like and I wish they had been done for field hockey, but I am so excited to be playing lacrosse too so I still get to use them,” two sport athlete and senior Lexi Palko said.

The field hockey and football teams were disappointed they didn’t get to use the locker rooms after being told they would be the first ones to use it.

“I’m upset after three years I didn’t have the privilege of using the new locker rooms after being told they were going to be ready for the fall 2018 seasons,” senior Dorian Gashi said.
