“Avengers: Infinity War” is one of the biggest movies of the year so far, but in order to understand the events of the movie, you have to understand what the Infinity Stones are. In the movie, we see The Avengers team up with The Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange to fight Thanos and The Black Order as well as to stop Thanos from collecting the Infinity Stones. Thanos plans to use these stones to kill half of all life in the universe. These six stones each control a certain power in the universe, such as time and space. In order to understand how they got to where they are, here are some movies you might want to watch before “Avengers: Infinity War”.

The Space Stone: The Space Stone, also known as the Tesseract, was the first stone introduced into the MCU. This “cosmic cube” was seen in Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, and, more recently, Thor: Ragnarok

The Mind Stone: The Mind Stone has mostly been seen inside of Loki’s scepter, and allows the user to control the minds of others. This stone has been featured in Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, where it was relocated into the head of Vision, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner’s android designed to fight Ultron.

The Reality Stone: The Reality Stone has the ability to alter matter and reality, and was featured in Thor: The Dark World, as a liquid called the Aether. This stone, at the end of the movie, was given to The Collector.

The Power Stone: The Power Stone gives the user energy which is predominantly used to destroy planets. This stone was featured in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, where it was obtained by The Guardians and given to the Nova Corps.

The Time Stone: The Time Stone allows the user to rewind or fast-forward time. The only movie that this stone has been featured in so far is Doctor Strange” At the end of the movie, Strange returned it to its home of Kamar-Taj.

The Soul Stone: The Soul Stone allows the user to control both living and dead souls, according to the comics. This stone’s powers are quite vague due to the fact that “Avengers: Infinity War” will be the first movie to show it off.
