On April 20, 2018, Avicii, a beloved artist and DJ, committed suicide at age 28. His body was found in Muscat, Oman.
In a May 1 LA Times article, his parents released a statement.
“He could not go on any longer,” his parents said. “He needed to find peace.”
Avicii was found with cut wounds on his neck and wrist. He had a history of health issues, including pancreatitis, due to heavy drinking. He also had his appendix and gallbladder removed in 2012.
In 2016, Avicii wrote a letter to his fans telling them he would be retiring from music which came as a surprise. He was one of the highest paid DJs in the world.
“I’m just shocked,” junior Alexis Lombardo said. “He was one of my favorite artists and I was not expecting this.”
