What you will need:

  • Potato peeler or mandolin
  • Pre-prepared Pie Crust Pie tin
  • Five to seven tart apples
  • Pot

Ingredients for Caramel Glaze came from Chef John’s Caramel Apple Pie:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • One pinch of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup of water
  • Six tablespoons unsalted butter

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel apples and cut around the core. Once cut, use a potato peeler or mandolin to create thin slices. To create the roses: roll a slice into a cylinder shape. Begin wrapping other slices around the cylinder in an alternating pattern. Repeat to create about 10 roses and place in the pie crust. To create the caramel sauce: Combine ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Pour caramel sauce over top the apple roses until they are completely coated. Bake in oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Feel free to à la mode!
