I think the voting age should be lowered to 16 because teenagers are already impacted by government decisions and deserve a say. At 16, we can work, pay taxes, and drive, which means they are participating in society in meaningful ways. If the government can take our money through taxes, we should have a say in how that money is spent. Many teens are passionate about social issues the government handles, and lowering the voting age would let those voices be heard. If we contribute to society, we should have a role in shaping it.
Some argue that 16-year-olds are not mature enough to vote, but plenty of adults vote without being fully informed. High school students are often learning about government and current events, which makes us more prepared than people assume. Young people should not be ignored just because of their age.
