I don’t think that the voting age should be lowered to 16. I feel like 18 is a better age because by then people are more mature and can handle more serious responsibilities. At 18 most people will have finished or will soon finish high school so they will have learned more about history and government. 16 feels too young because a lot of teens may not even have chosen a career yet and can be easily influenced by other people instead of thinking for themselves.
Some people say that 16-year-olds should vote since they can drive and work. I don’t think this is a good argument because people who are at the age where they just started driving aren’t mature enough to vote on something that will have a major impact on the world. Most 16-year-olds don’t have the experience at the age to make that big of a decision.
