I believe that the voting age should be lowered to 16. At the age of 16, these people are able to drive, make adult decisions, and pay taxes. These people operate cars, and learn to follow the rules of the roads. If the road rules can be followed then it is likely that a 16-year-old would be able to follow and add to the rules. Since they can pay taxes, they should be able to vote on what they must pay. I think that it’s unfair that adults can vote on taxes, but people who are 16 with jobs pay taxes but cannot vote.
However, it can be looked at that 16-year-old’s are not mature enough to vote. They aren’t in college and do not have enough experience in the real world. While this opinion can be looked at, many college students are not experienced in the workplace or outside life either. I think that 16-year-old’s now are a lot more mature than those from 20 years ago. Many teenagers work jobs, and carry a lot of responsibilities. Since they can manage their responsibilities, I think that they should be able to vote.
