An influx of violence on New York City subways and around New York has riders and citizens questioning their personal safety. The subway, a supreme travel machine, was designed to provide citizens with a safe mechanism to be carried from one destination to the next. Its consistent reliability and positive reputation are now being challenged because of an increase in danger inside the stations and on the rails. People are also beginning to fear going into the city because of the countless stabbings and murders that have occurred this winter.
