Around halfway through the West Essex Boys Soccer season, the Knights have found great success on the field and are hoping to finish the season the same way they began. The team has a 7-3-4 record and a 2-1-1 record within their division, an impressive feat after their disappointing 2023 season. The Knights moved down to the SEC Liberty division with the hopes of rebuilding, and they have been successful in this effort. Senior Kevin Rodrigues and Junior Drew Cerqueira lead the team with 5 goals each. Senior goalkeeper Tyler Gordon has 52 out of 108 combined saves for the Knights.
As the season continues, the Knights hope to make a long run in the county and state tournaments. They entered counties as the 9th seed. The Knights survived the first round of counties on Oct. 15, where they faced Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark. Senior James Fries had an overtime goal to seal the win against the 24-seed team. As the Soccer Knights move through their season, they continue to improve with new confidence and skill.
