As celebs arrive at award shows, they are greeted with thousands of camera flashes and microphones, plus interviewers hungry for details on what everyone is wearing. Red carpet looks often receive more attention than the awards given out themselves. Take a look at the Wire’s Best and Worst dressed from the 2024 award show season so far.
The Grammys
BEST: Olivia Rodrigo

She is beautiful, she is elegant and she never misses. This year at the Grammys, Olivia Rodrigo stunned audiences with a breathtaking vintage Versace gown. From the draping diamonds to the perfect medley of the hair, makeup and accessories, Olivia delivered! Like every one of her music hits, we are left wanting more.
WORST: Ice Spice
Ice Spice’s looks “always stay hot” on red carpets, except at the Grammys this year. By now we should know the only time to mix jeans and fur is in the song “Low” by Flo Rida, and this 2000’s fashion throwback attempt was a miss. The dress, strappy heel and costume jewelry ensemble should be reserved for streetwear, not the red carpet!
The Emmys
BEST: Suki Waterhouse
Suki Waterhouse in Valentino Haute Couture brings a unique and interesting sense of architecture and geometry to the red carpet. This distinctive look is enough to bring the “wow factor” to the red carpet without screaming for attention. The red complements Waterhouse’s complexion perfectly, and we also of course love a confident mom-to-be moment on the carpet!
WORST: Issa Rae
There are so many questions that come to mind at first glance with this look; whats going on here? Where is the shape of the dress? What’s with all of the feathers? Issa Rae in Pamella Roland at the Emmys this year is a prime example of what the stars should be trying to avoid, this look is confusion, this look is miscellaneous, and this look is, as teens would say, “not giving.”
The Golden Globes
BEST: Jennifer Lopez

Once again, J.Lo delivers on the red carpet. The baby pink look with her honey hair and minimal yet elegant jewelry accentuate Lopez’s features to perfection. She flawlessly pulls off this gown in a way that others simply couldn’t. The look is just formal enough for the red carpet without blurring the line between red carpet worthy and ridiculous.
WORST: Billie Eilish
From her hit song in “Barbie” to her every other movie worthy song out there, we really were rooting for Billie’s look. The play on a formal suit is just a miss though. The khaki skirt is not cohesive with the oversized jacket, and the outfit as a whole looks like a poorly fitted business casual look. Billie’s style is famously eclectic, and her past looks may have hit, but this did not!
