West Essex Wrestling the past few seasons has cemented themselves as an elite program, and this year remains more of the same. West Essex won the first twelve games to open the season, with a big 30-23 win against the Seton Hall Pirates on Jan. 17 being the highlight win during the streak.
Seton Hall Prep has long been a nemesis of West Essex, but the Wrestling Knights came out victorious in a clash of the top-tier Essex County schools. A pin by freshman Reid Clausi (3:02) helped drive West Essex to victory.
The Wrestling Knights have had utter dominance all season, and possibly have state championship aspirations after ripping off 12 straight wins to start the year. As the Knights have been rolling, junior Nick Bastante is thrilled with the results thus far.
“I feel like it’s been a strong start so far, the team’s doing well, and I feel like our undefeated record just shows how hard we’ve been working,” Bastante said.
West Essex finished their regular season 13-1 and has their eyes set on accomplishing state championship feats.
