Halloween: As the leaves begin to turn shades of auburn, yellow and brown, the Wire knows Halloween is around the corner. So, when is it acceptable to hang our spider webs and skeletons outside our houses? Even if you consider yourself a lover of the spooky season, any earlier than October 1 is a crime to summer. Any later than the first week of October does not give your haunted decorations enough time to shine! And no cutesy decorations allowed this October, the Wire only approves of the most haunted of ghosts and ghouls for your Halloween set up! Make sure you’re putting the spooky in Spooky Season.
Thanksgiving: As we clean up the candy wrappers from the previous evening, thoughts of turkey and stuffing slowly creep their way into our minds. We can’t help but to feel the Thanksgiving atmosphere all around us. While The Wessex Wire loves Halloween as much as the next person, your haunted decor must be back in storage sometime during the first week of November. Perhaps replacing it with festive cartoon turkeys and autumn reefs will get you excited for the upcoming holiday. Christmas decorations are unacceptable in the early weeks of November. Excitement may be brewing for the 25 of December, but skipping over Thanksgiving is like passing up on the latest issue of The Wire: it’s just not right!
Christmas: As we click off the TV from the Macy’s Day Parade, The Wessex Wire’s minds immediately jump to thoughts of peppermint hot chocolate, bright lights strung on houses and Hallmark movies. After a day of stuffing our bellies, we know it’s time to throw on our Christmas pajamas and replace our fall foliage with stockings and mistletoe galore. It is simply unacceptable any later than the Friday following Thanksgiving as maximum time is necessary to spread the Christmas cheer! Don’t worry, you have the first week of December to search high and low for the perfect tree. In the following days, spend time with family adorning it with ornaments that hold precious childhood memories. Don’t get yourself on the naughty list; The Wire wants to see extravagant decorations this Christmas season.
