Wherever Taylor Swift goes, fans follow. And when it comes to her dating life, fans pop the personal bubble. Fans have been speculating about the relationship between Swift and Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, and after being spotted at a game in Kansas City, fans have wasted no time uploading photos and videos to social media of her in his family suite. After being seen alongside his mother, “Swifties” at the game and on the internet were head over heels to see Swift smile and cheer, making the stadium shimmer as Kelce scored his second touchdown of the season.
During the Sept. 24 Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, the viewership count beat the NFL record for the highest viewed Sunday broadcast since the Super Bowl, reported by CNN on Oct. 2. This game reached a volume of 27 million spectators, likely due to Swift’s attendance at the game.
Following the game, the two were seen driving around the city in Kelce’s convertible on their way to a dinner nearby. Swift reportedly paid for the meals of people already eating at the restaurant and rented out the place to clear the tables and make space for a romantic and secluded dinner with Kelce. The night concluded with a party with Kelce’s teammates and family with Swift by his side in her best dress, a denim one.
Due to the expected eruption from fans on social media, Kelce’s jersey sales skyrocketed 400 percent following the football game last week. “Swifties” are eager to support Swift and her new and fresh romance by repping his jersey all season, going as far as even planning Halloween couples costumes in their signature outfits.
Not only have the “Swifties,” filled social media with commentary on this alleged new celebrity couple, but even the NFL is adding insights. Between changing the official NFL TikTok bio to relate to Taylor Swift for a period of time and posting frequent videos to even focusing the camera on Swift during TV footage of games and making references to her songs for each of Travis’ plays, the NFL may even be more devoted to this budding romance than Swift’s fans.
Kelce spoke on his “New Heights” podcast, co-hosted by Philadelphia Eagles center, his older brother, Jason Kelce, about the nature of the NFL’s recent activity involving Swift. He believes that the NFL and media are focusing too much of their voices on her attending games and are making one too many comments about Swift whenever Kelce is playing or spoken about.
As Kelce began his travels to New York for his next game, Swift was first seen walking around the city, one that she often resides in, alongside Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, Blake Lively and Sophie Turner. They were recognized at dinner before attending the Oct. 1 Chiefs game against the New York Jets. This combination of celebrities was not only a rare sighting, but they were posted everywhere they went. Swift graced the stadium with her presence and was spotted waving to fans in videos alongside a plethora of her A-list celebrity friends.
Many “Swifties” look forward to seeing this new couple thrive as they likely travel across the country together for more games and maybe even some Era’s Tour shows. Although Swift’s lyrics in “Fifteen” go against her newfound romance, in her life she’s still doing things “greater than dating the boy on the football team.”
