Ice Spice’s collaboration with PinkPanthress on “Boy’s a Liar. Pt.2” topped the charts and was an instant hit.

Taking both the internet and the music industry by storm, Ice Spice, the “New York It Girl” in TikTok is topping the charts with each of her hits. Beginning as a social media trend, one of her most popular songs, “Munch (Feelin U),” kickstarted her music career.

The Bronx rapper’s fame and stardom skyrocketed instantly on TikTok.

The instant success over 6 million followers on Instagram and over 7 million followers on TikTok.

Shortly after the release of another one of her hit singles, “In Ha Mood,” Ice Spice dropped her successful EP, “Like?,” on Jan. 20. Including her three previous singles, this new collection added three extras hit songs. Ice Spice adds a pop sound to drill pop, an up tempo and skittish sound that she pulls together with a strong punch and perfect melodies. This short album earned its name from her common use of the word “like,” which appears in almost every song in the collection.

To top it off, in February, Ice Spice dropped a collaboration with fellow rapper PinkPantheress, “Boy’s a Liar, Pt.2.” This sensation earned the two rappers their first No. 1 hit on the U.S. Spotify charts, totaling in over 2 million streams.

When Ice Spice first made it big with her rising music career, the female rapper signed to 10K Projects/Capitol Records, her first experience in the industry. To the surprise of older generations who are unaware of the power of social media, the success came solely from TikTok, a common denominator in today’s pop culture chart toppers.

TikTok continues to hold massive influence in today’s entertainment. If the success fueled by a popular app can begin someone like Ice Spice’s career, there’s no say as to what the future holds for her aspiring music career.
