Influencer Andrew Tate is currently detained in prison for 30 days until further notice.

Throughout the past year, misogynist influencer and former kick boxer Andrew Tate, aka “Top G,” has gained notoriety for his self-proclaimed misogyny and regressive opinions on women, and he’s been banned from multiple social media platforms for discriminatory and sexist messages, including that women are “intrinsically lazy” and should bear responsibility for being sexually assaulted. Shortly after his return to social media on December 29th Tate was arrested by Romanian officials on charges of rape and human trafficking.
Tate and his brother, Tristan, were arrested due to suspicion of a criminal online pornography scam. According to Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime, the brothers manipulated and convinced victims that they were interested in romantic relationships with them. They then sent them to houses where the women were threatened and forced to act in porn videos which were later sold online.
So far, six female victims of the brothers have been identified by Romania’s crime unit. The Tate’s are currently detained in prison for 30 days until further notice.
Tate’s online persona is filled with money, expensive cars and images of himself wearing bathrobes and smoking cigars as signs of wealth and power. This gained him a following among many men, as many support him in the hopes that they would follow his advice and gain a lifestyle similar to his. His recent arrest and possibility of money loss may certainly be an eye opener for men and boys across the world.
