Start spooky season off right with Halloween movies old and new!

Halloween movies are a fall staple. Like clockwork, just as the spooky season comes around, so do these classic films. Here are some Halloween movies to get you into the spooky spirit!

“Scream” 1996 – This thrilling movie screams Halloween as it is the very blueprint for horror movies. As the ‘ghostface’ killer haunts and murders locals in a small town, many unlikely victims come into play. This story of several teens makes viewers feel as if they are living the plot right alongside the characters. This movie incorporates wit and fright into one eerily mysterious cinematic experience.

“Halloween” 1978 – This classic movie follows the story of a teenage girl who gets attacked on Halloween night by Michael Meyers, an escapee from a mental institution. This timeless movie never fails to scare each generation of those brave enough to watch. Horror and action from the very first scene will keep you on the edge of your seat, making it a definite must-watch this season.

“Hocus Pocus” 1993 –  The story of three witches, ancient spells and a teenage boy.  This 1993 classic is extremely nostalgic, taking viewers back to Halloween nights as a child, but with a twist. Max Dennison, along with his younger sister Dani and love interest Allison, experience a life-changing Halloween night when the history of a forbidden spell reawakens to haunt him. It is up to him to save the town of Salem.

“Halloweentown” 1998 – Struggling with her “human” identity, teenage girl Marnie Piper (Kimberly J. Brown) soon discovers that she belongs to a coven of witches, who live in a fantastical world known as “Halloweentown.” Through self-discovery and battling evil, this movie brings out the true Halloween spirit.

“Girl vs. Monster” 2012 – From the heart of Disney, this movie tells the story of Skylar Lewis (Olivia Holt), a teenage girl who finds out she comes from generations of monster hunters. The only way to save her family and friends is to trap monsters on Halloween night. With a catchy soundtrack and lighthearted plot, this fun movie will entertain anyone.
