‘Harry Styles: Love on Tour’ breaks records and gives fans a chance to strut the runway
Feathers left over from neon boas fill the floor in arenas across the country, the remnants of Harry Styles’ presence. After a postponement of nearly two years, fans are finally experiencing Harry Styles live. “Harry Styles: Love on Tour” is sweeping the nation.
Performing songs from his albums “Fine Line” and “Harry Styles,” and even a nod to his One Direction days with “What Makes You Beautiful,” he has wowed audiences from Sept. 4 to Nov. 28. Styles recently decided to add on a couple more shows to the end of what fans are calling the “US-leg” of the tour, including one in nearby Long Island.
During this tour, Styles has become the first artist in the 21st century to win the “Golden Ticket Award,” an honor given to those who have sold out a total of five shows at Madison Square Garden, 100,000 tickets sold at each show. This achievement is a high honor, having been previously awarded to big names in the industry such as Elton John and Bon Jovi.
With his fabulous fashion sense, Styles’ fans are on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what he will come on stage wearing each night. Many of his outfits for these shows are partnered with Gucci and each is designed by Harry Lambert, who posts the outfits for every concert date to his willing Instagram followers.
Styles also invited his fans to a “fancy dress party” on two special nights, calling it “Harryween.” Dressing as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” the first night and a clown the second, these outfits left the audience speechless and as usual, defied gender norms in clothing. These concerts were considered separate from the rest, and featured different setlists including covers such as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and “Toxic” by Britney Spears. Styles also had the crowd’s jaws on the floor when he performed his beloved unreleased song “Medicine,” which fans are still anxiously waiting on him to officially release. His fans have taken it upon themselves to consider his concerts as their own personal fashion shows, wearing outfits fit only for Mr. Styles himself. Some fans spend weeks meticulously glueing rhinestones or feathers to make sure their outfit is perfect for the big night. These red-carpet ready looks have even caught the attention of fashion magazines, such as Vogue.
Unlike other celebrities, Styles makes sure to interact with his fans at every show. From responding to their clever posters, to giving them smiles and waves, Harry Styles fans fight for pit tickets in hopes they will have a moment of conversation with him.
As he cares deeply about the safety of his fans, Styles is taking Covid precautions at his shows quite seriously. Masks are required at every single show, and fans must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend at almost all locations.
After almost two years of waiting to see when he would be able to perform again, Harry Styles and his fans are more than happy to be reunited.
