For over 70 years, the Lyndhurst Pastry Shop has been a fixture in Lyndhurst, N.J. Along with serving top quality pastries and ices, the Lanzerotti family also enjoys building connections and creating memories with their guests and their families. The store has always been in the family, and today, three generations of the Lanzerottis work together in the store. Paulette Lanzerotti, business development manager at the Lyndhurst Pastry Shop, spoke with us about the shop, its signature products and her favorite parts about working at the shop.

How long has your business been running and what is your favorite part about it? We have been in business for 72 years to be exact. My favorite parts about working at the Lyndhurst Pastry Shop are working with my own family and connecting with the community. On any day, I’m working with my dad or uncle and I just love seeing my family everyday. Compared to others, I’m so lucky that I see more than my immediate family [on a regular basis]. The other major enjoyment from my job is the fact that we’re able to connect with our guests. One of my favorite things is seeing new generations of families whose parents had previously come as kids themselves. We hope this can continue through their children as even more memories can be made.

What is your signature product? The store offers a wide variety of products including pastries, cakes, cookies and most popular during the summer, our Italian ices. Signature products include our freshly made cannolis, traditional heart cookies and rum cakes; the rum cakes were actually featured on the Food Network’s “Baked”, hosted by comedian Tom Papa. However, the shop’s Italian ices are what we are commonly known for. The flavors for the ices are posted on our Instagram story, daily. Speaking of social media, we are very active on our two platforms: Instagram and Facebook.

What are some of the ways people could best support your business right now? Currently, the Lyndhurst Pastry Shop is open (with a maximum occupancy of four people inside at a time), and we’re also available for outdoor pickup. Our outdoor windows for Italian ice are open, as well. With the current circumstances, we’re trying to provide various accommodations for everyone.
