Located in Montclair, Just Jake’s is “just” a family-run restaurant and bar that has been a staple in the community for the last 23 years. While serving as a firefighter in Montclair, Carl Zimmermann fell in love with the community and decided to team up with Charlie Leu to open up Jake’s to give back to the community. Jake’s takes pride in the musical acts that it features on the weekends. The restaurant has an excellent menu with fan favorites such as the cheeseburger and chicken wings. Just Jake’s is currently open from Thursday-Sunday serving food and drinks for those who call and order ahead. Outdoor dining recently reopened, on June 15.
What products/services does your business offer? We provide food and drinks, socialization and we work closely with School of Rock to give students the opportunity to perform in a real life environment.
What makes your business unique? We are the only place in Montclair in the area that has so many different people come in every night. We are very welcoming; if you walk into Jake’s, its a crowd that is very mixed, so everyone has a place, we aren’t geared toward specific age groups. Everybody is welcome.
What is your favorite part about running the business? The many memories we have doing benefits such as the one for 9/11 and we have also held benefits for other people; one of our main purposes is to give back.
