Starting out as a restaurant in Cedar Grove, Pomptonian has grown over the years to supply 107 school districts with restaurant-quality lunches, including our very own West Essex. Despite the students not being in school during this time, Pomptonian is still supplying lunches to families in need with curb-side pickup at West Essex as well as other school districts. President Mark Vidovich and vice president Candy Vidovich are more than just food suppliers for the school, they are active members of the West Essex community. The friendly Vidovich family is behind all the iced coffees, snacks and lunches you buy at school everyday.

What makes your business unique as opposed to others? Pomptonian started as a restaurant in Cedar Grove. When they built the high school, they asked us to run the cafeteria. We brought restaurant flare to school food service.

During quarantine, what have you done with extra food in your storage and freezers? The closing was very sudden. We were fully prepared to be serving lunch on March 13, which never happened. We went in and found out what was going to expire and donated the rest to food banks and first responders.
