Just because Trump is unpopular, doesn’t mean he should be banned

Social Media is a platform that allows anyone to express their thoughts, opinions, and their life. Just like all of the news channels and websites around the world, platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. are all places where people share news. President Trump was like no other President when it came to social media. President Trump shared almost everything that went through his mind with the people. He was able to do this through social media. Social media is one of the most important platforms for the entire world. The ability to post anything wherever and whenever is absolutely changing. With this being said, people must understand that everything they post on social media, they are held accountable for. For this reason, it is very important to stay on a fine line between informing and forcing.

On January 6th, 2021 the Capitol Building was stormed by protesters. In the riot, many people were injured and some died. The blame went to President Trump and the entire left pointed fingers at him. Trump was accused of influencing violence and misinforming the country to be violent at the protest. Although most did not like President Trump and still do not like President Trump, he should not have been banned and should not be banned from social media due to the event. His posts on social media did not influence violence. His posts were twisted by people to make it seem like he was promoting violence and letting them know that violence was okay. Social media posts are not always interpreted the way the person posting it meant and that is one of the curses of technology, not just social media.

Social media sites should not be able to ban the president because of the essential information that they might need to post during dangerous situations. Social media is probably the fastest way to spread news and information around the United States and the world. No matter who the president is, they should always have the right to post on social media sites unless they violate the platform guidelines. In the case of President Trump, he did not violate the guidelines, so there was no reason for him to be banned. Social media should one hundred percent monitor someone in a high position of authority, like the president’s, social media account, but there is no reason the account should be banned unless wrong is committed. Monitoring an account is very important for someone with that many followers, friends, etc. because the post is spread so quickly. As soon as it is posted it is instantly sent to thousands of people. Fact checking is another way to keep a world leader or presidents’ account under control. Social media has started to fact check pages posts and will notify the person looking at the post that the information could be misleading or false. If social media’s next step for accounts of high authority is to monitor it with fact checking, they could not fact check their opinions. Everyone in the world has the ability to post and create accounts on these platforms and everyone who has these accounts also can be banned for not following the guidelines. Unless violations to the community guidelines are committed, no account should be banned.
