This year, the iconic Black Friday experience was extremely different . Waiting in line and getting your temperature checked in each store, is definitely not the same as previous years prior to  2020. Black Friday this year wasn’t as busy as last year because a lot of stores started their sales a few days earlier. For example, Best Buy, Nordstrom, and Amazon started their Black Friday sales on Sunday, Nov. 22. Also, many malls and stores had no crowds since many people would rather shop online.

Most store employees were planning on seeing large crowds for their stores, but it turned out to be  the same amount of people on an average day. Since many people chose to cancel  their vacations and plans because of the pandemic, they are able to spend more money on shopping.  rather be safe and save it for online shopping. Some stores told customers that certain items will drop lower on Cyber Monday and they could get discounted for the price they spent on Black Friday. For example, Target’s deal states,“if you buy any product that’s labeled “Black Friday Deal” and the price goes lower than what you paid for it before Dec. 24, Target will offer you a price adjustment.”

Happily, this year’s COVID-19 Black Friday was a success. Although stores were planning on making the money they lost in person, online shopping was a hit for everyone and will be more of a hit for Cyber Monday. Now, customers are able to save money and employees are able to remain safe.
